So last week I went out of my way to do some research for guitar playing and went to a Galactic concert at the Belly Up. It was way past my bedtime, so this was really a lot of work for research. ;-) Actually, it was pretty late - the concert didn't start until 9, which is my bedtime and Galactic didn't come on until 10:15. We only saw them for an hour, but loving their music, I had a great time. I stated to take video because even though I don't have an electric guitar, I wanted to capture the style of playing. Jazz really has a lot of great guitar playing in it and it combines chords and finger picking. I got some good strings of saxophone playing too for my teacher friend, Traci to enjoy.
As far as my own playing goes, it's coming along slowly but surely. I'm back out of finger picking and onto power chords. I didn't know what this meant, but they are apparently just chords that use only 2 strings. They're not too tough to learn but sound pretty nice. Next, I'll get into more finger picking, getting a bit more difficult each time. I'm starting to think that I'm going to subscribe to GuitarBots because the cutoff at only about 8 plays before my time has to build up is getting too frustrating and I'm not getting far enough. Plus, they've got a lot of songs on there that I can play if I have a subscription. My fingers are pretty calloused up and it's not hurting to play too much right now. When I get back into full chords, I may find it more difficult again with the pain - we'll see! I'm loving this GuitarBots program more and more as I realize it's teaching me in a way that is easy to learn and builds up
