Although this class is over, I do not see this as an end to my guitar learning project. I'm not even through the initial learning stage on GuitarBots and I plan to do much more after getting through this. I have put a lot of time in, but don't see as much of a growth as I would have liked. I suppose I could have chosen one song and practiced and practiced until I had mastered it, but I think the route I went helped me to learn more techniques and will help me with a wider range of songs down the road. I did give up on playing every song perfectly, unless it was one that I really liked. It's difficult to play a song well when you don't like it as much (which is an interesting intro to how to engage students in subjects that don't interest them!). I noticed a section on GuitarBots that teaches how to play the Blues and started it today, but it will take a while to learn. I think I need to get through the rest of my intro sections first. I've had so much fun doing this and playing the guitar has been a good break from doing constant homework and teaching. It relaxes me and makes me smile and that's worth more than a lot of things. Here's one last video of me playing Ode to Joy. It's not super difficult, but it's a song I know and enjoyed playing, so I thought I'd take a video of it. I wanted to do one with chords, but I'm still working on moving between chords fast enough. Although I can play some songs well, they aren't very exciting, so I thought this would be the best end to this class. I plan to continue to post my learning on the website I use once I'm a full time teacher so that my students can see my learning as I facilitate theirs.
I had some technological difficulties with getting this recorded because for some reason, although it recorded my sounds on my iPad, it didn't stay saved when it sent me the video. So I just recorded the video with my sound with my phone - that's why the quality isn't so good.
